Rural Australians for Refugees (RAR)

Rural Australians for Refugees is a network of of people committed to justice for refugees.  It began in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales in October 2001.

Since then over ninety RAR groups have formed in country towns all over Australia, including Phillip Island. New groups are still forming.  RAR has links with many other organisations seeking a change in the attitude of the government towards refugees.

The network remains an informal one.  The more local groups there are working in their own way to promote understanding of refugee issues, the more influence RAR will eventually have in bringing about change.

On Phillip Island the group meets at 10:00 am on the last Tuesday of the month at St. Johns.  If you have a concern for refugees you are encouraged to attend.
